【解説 / Commentary】
2018 年の同名スペインのスポーツコメディ映画の英語版リメイク。『ゾンビランド』『逆転のトライアングル』などのウディ・ハレルソンが、社会奉仕として知的障害を持つ選手のチームを指導しなければならないマイナーリーグのバスケットボールコーチを演じる。監督は『帰ってきたMr.ダマーバカMAX！』などのボビー・ファレリー。共演は『フィラデルフィアは今日も晴れ』シリーズのケイトリン・オルソン、アーニー・ハドソン、チーチ・マリンらが出演。

【ストーリー / Story】
アイオワ州のマイナーリーグバスケットボールチームのマーカス・マラコビッチ（ウディ・ハレルソン）は短気だが有能なアシスタントコーチで、試合中にヘッドコーチを突き飛ばし、スタジアムを出た後、バーで酒に酔って帰宅途中にパトカーと衝突し、刑務所に入れられてしまう。マーカスが公聴会に出廷すると、裁判官は彼に18か月の懲役か、学習障害のある人々のためのバスケットボールチーム「フレンズ」での90日間の社会奉仕かの選択をせまる。マーカスは社会奉仕に同意し、このチームを指導する。マーカスは選手の一人であるジョニー（ケビン・イアヌッチ）と一緒に帰るが、運転手は元Tinderの一夜限りの関係であり、ジョニーの妹であるアレックス（ケイトリン・オルソン）だった。マーカスは、新しいチームの指導方法を学びながら、アレックスとカジュアルな性的関係を始める。チームは改善し始め、マーカスは選手たちを知るにつれ、彼らが単なるスキル以上のものであることに気づくが……。

[One-word review]: Champions (2023) released in the United States on March 10, 2023. It's a comical, interesting movie, but it's a pity that it won't be released in Japan.

[Explanation / Commentary]
An English remake of the 2018 Spanish sports comedy film of the same name. Woody Harrelson ("Zombieland", "Reversal Triangle") plays a minor league basketball coach who has to coach a team of players with intellectual disabilities as a community service. The director is ``The Return of Mr. Dammer, Baka MAX! and Bobby Farrelly. Co-stars include Caitlin Olson, Ernie Hudson, and Cheech Marin from the "It's Sunny in Philadelphia" series.

[Story / Story]
Marcus Malakovich (Woody Harrelson), an Iowa minor league basketball team, is a hotheaded but capable assistant coach who shoves the head coach during a game, leaves the stadium, gets drunk in a bar, and drives home in a police car. collided with and was put in prison. When Marcus appears in court, a judge offers him a choice of 18 months in prison or 90 days of community service with the Friends basketball team for people with learning disabilities. Marcus agrees to do his community service and coach this team. Marcus returns home with one of his players, Johnny (Kevin Iannucci), but his driver is former Tinder one-night stand and Johnny's sister, Alex (Caitlin Olson). Marcus begins a casual sexual relationship with Alex while learning how to coach his new team. The team begins to improve, and as Marcus gets to know his players, he realizes they are more than just skills.
