日本が世界に誇る日本映画最大のキャラクター、怪獣王ゴジラ＝GODZILLAがハリウッドでリメイクし映画化されたSF怪獣パニック大作。世界的大ヒットを記録した『インデペンデン・デイ』のローランド・エメリッヒ監督、ディーン・デブリン脚本。製作総指揮はローランド・エメリッヒとウテ・エメリッヒ、ウィリアム・フェイの共同。主演は『フェリスはある朝突然に』『恋におぼれて』のマシュー・ブロデリック、共演に『レオン』のジャン・レノ。
【ストーリー / Story】
タヒチ沖で海難事故が続発する一方、パナマの丘陵地帯で巨大な足跡が発見される。長雨に曝されていたニューヨークへ突如、核実験の影響で誕生した新種の巨大生物－ゴジラ－が現れた。ゴジラは、強大な兵力を誇る米国軍隊をものともせず、マンハッタンのビル街を破壊して地下へ消える。米国政府の調査隊に加わった生物学者ニック・タトプロス（マシュー・ブロデリック）は、摩天楼がゴジラの巣に選ばれたことを知る。そんな彼に保険調査員を自称する正体不明のフランス人、フィリップ・ローシェ（ジャン・レノ）が接近。実はフィリップは、自国の核実験によってゴジラが生み出されたことに対して、フランス政府が秘密裏に派遣したトップ・エージェントだった。ふたりは協力してゴジラを追い、巣のありかがマジソン・スクエア・ガーデンだと突き止める。ところが巣に累々と並ぶ巨大な卵からゴジラが続々誕生。ニックとフィリップは彼らを追って来た、ゴジラのスクープでキャスターの座を狙う、元恋人でテレビ・レポーター志望のオードリー（マリア・ピティロ）とキャメラマンのアニマル（ハンク・アザリア）と共に、小型ゴジラの群れに追われる羽目に。マジソン・スクエア・ガーデンには爆撃命令が出され、巣は壊滅したが、そこにゴジラが出現。摩天楼を縫っての巨大獣との大追走劇の末、ニックらは一計を案じてゴジラを大鉄橋に誘い込んで罠にかける。さしものゴジラも、ミサイル総攻撃の前に崩れ落ち、ニックらは九死に一生を得た。だが、巣には卵がまだ残っていたが……。

A sci-fi monster panic masterpiece in which Godzilla, the king of monsters = GODZILLA, the biggest character in Japanese movies that Japan boasts to the world, was remade in Hollywood and made into a movie. Directed by Roland Emmerich and written by Dean Devlin, the world-famous blockbuster Independence Day. Co-executive producers Roland Emmerich, Ute Emmerich, and William Faye. Starring Matthew Broderick of "Ferris Suddenly" and "In Love", and co-starring Jean Reno of "Leon".

While marine accidents occur one after another off the coast of Tahiti, giant footprints are discovered in the hills of Panama. A new kind of giant creature - Godzilla - suddenly appeared in New York, which was exposed to heavy rain. Despite the mighty US military, Godzilla destroys the Manhattan skyline and disappears underground. Biologist Nick Tatopoulos (Matthew Broderick), who has joined a US government research team, learns that the skyscraper was chosen as Godzilla's nest. He is approached by Philippe Roche (Jean Reno), an unidentified Frenchman who claims to be an insurance investigator. In fact, Philippe was a top agent secretly dispatched by the French government in response to the creation of Godzilla by its own nuclear test. The two work together to track down Godzilla and discover that the nest is located at Madison Square Garden. However, Godzilla is born one after another from the huge eggs lined up in the nest. Nick and Philip have followed them, with their former girlfriend and aspiring TV reporter Audrey (Maria Pitillo) and cameraman Animal (Hank Azaria), to a swarm of miniature Godzillas in a Godzilla scoop for anchormanship. To be chased by. A bombing order was issued to Madison Square Garden, and the nest was destroyed, but Godzilla appeared there. After a great chasing drama with a giant beast that weaves through the skyscrapers, Nick and his friends come up with a plan to lure Godzilla to the Great Iron Bridge and trap it. Even Godzilla collapsed before the missile all-out attack, and Nick and others narrowly escaped. However, there were still eggs left in the nest...
